Manchester Malayalee Association (MMA) is a registered Charity (1175205) based in Manchester in England. We are a non-profit making community organisation of people from Kerala in India. Our aim is to preserve and maintain our culture and traditions and to help our community in integrating with wider British community, while maintaing our values and identity. The association was formed on 2nd July 2003 and is one of the major Malayalee Associations in the UK. .
As a Registered Charity, the main objective of the association is to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Manchester and surrounding areas without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, nationality, race or of political, religious or other opinions, by associating together the said inhabitants and the statutory authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.
MMA conducts numerous cultural programmes and other activities throughout the year. MMA also runs a supplementary school which is registered with the Manchester City Council and currently offers lessons in Bollywood Dance, Classical Indian Dance, Carnatic Music, Keyboard, Karate and Zumba. With over 110 students (as of October 2017), the MMA Arts and Dance School is one of the largest supplementary schools in Manchester.
he Association provides various opportunities and encourages its members to participate and take leadership in all activities to enhance their skills and talents. MMA provides a forum for the Malayalees residing in and around Manchester to meet and expand their friendship and exchange their views and artistic and cultural heritage.
